Tracking the war on cash

This website aims to keep track of the elimination of cash around the world. There are several reasons why our physical money is disappearing. Economists, banks and governments not only desire to get rid of cash to gain more control over society (the surveillance state) but also because it is a real threat to the economy as a whole, especially since negative interest rates have started to appear. One of the only tools they have next to inflation is lowering interest rates and they've been forced now into negative interest rates. Since negative interest rates create an incentive to hold cash, governments have been pushing more and more restrictions on cash. Although using digital government money is convenient, it comes with an expensive price that most of us take for granted, our privacy.
